happy anniversary

Today is our third wedding anniversary! In a way it feels like just yesterday…in others it feels like it should be more like 5years. As I was scrolling through wedding photos, I found myself smiling. It was a long day, but I remember how great that day was. Let’s recap….

I planned our wedding in 4months. We had a “Country fair” themed backyard reception after the church. We had major thunderstorms the night before, terrorizing everything outside we had setup already. I only finished my bouquet and programs the morning of. While I was sitting getting all pretty from the hair and makeup ladies, I was still delegating all the things that needed to be done.

By the time I got to the front of the church, I found myself swaying with tiredness, and Spencer was sweating. Not from nervousness or cold feet, but because it was hot. At least I’m pretty sure that’s why?!

After we sealed the deal, it was time for food and time to celebrate. The fireworks got rushed because it started to rain, which made for a lovely mess of a gown. (The wedding dress boutique guy had a blank, shocked look on his face when I brought it in for cleaning/ preserving or whatever. That was funny.) Every one kept saying how it was a “good omen” for it to rain on your wedding day. That’s fine by me.

I remember I was so relieved that all the planning, arranging, and nuptuals were finished, that I just wanted to enjoy myself the rest of the night. And that I did. All those ladies who think its cliché to drink at their wedding, would have been talking the biggest smack behind my back, because I drank! Not my intentions, but I just happened to lose track of everyone who wanted to share a drink …I enjoyed myself, and celebrated. Bottom line.

It was a great day. And it has been a great 3 years. Still get butterflies. Still in love, and loving the way our life is going. It sounds kinda corny, but we’re blessed.

Fun at the fair

It’s back to school time. Summer is unofficially over and fall is just around the corner. I don’t know what it is, but I kinda like this time of year. It also means it’s Shawville Fair time. We have been going since we were kids and this year I got to bring Rylann. She had a blast or at least I think she did.

imageOf course it was chilly, as it usually ends up being for the fair. There were the usual vendors and carnival rides. Rylann enjoyed the Merry -go-round, the petting zoo, ice cream, and Beavertails! Next year and in the years to come, I’m sure she will get to enjoy it more. Just as we did.
